The name’s Dallas and I’m from Dallas. With a name like that, it seems I was destined to work in show business. Unfortunately, I don’t call the Lone Star State home because Texas didn’t know what to do with me. Growing up I was told I was going to hell for being gay, was too nerdy, wasn’t black enough. So, what fuels me to write is the desire to give black queer people shows that affirm their identities, that portray them as complex human beings with dreams and emotions like everyone else. I write stories that celebrate black queerness and black nerd culture.
